What Is Stainless Steel Casting?

Stainless steel casting, often referred to as stainless steel investment casting, is a process that involves the creation of a ceramic shell around a wax pattern to serve as the mold for casting stainless steel. This method begins with the fabrication of wax patterns, which are subsequently melted away within the gating system. The resulting void is then filled with a mixture of slurry and sand, forming a layered shell. Finally, the shell is subjected to the introduction of molten stainless steel, taking the shape of the desired component.

What does the Stainless Steel Casting process entail?

Stainless steel casting entails the creation of an initial wax model, followed by the layering of plaster and successive coatings to form a robust shell around the model. Once the wax is melted away, molten stainless steel is poured into the mold, resulting in an exact duplicate of the original wax pattern. Stainless steel casting offers cost-effective advantages, including the ability to produce intricate undercuts, achieve high resolution, capture intricate details, and attain a smooth surface finish compared to machining processes.
